Chaenomeles spp. are not widely grown in the Mediterranean Basin. Olivier Filippi lists two cultivars of C. speciosa in a now out-of-print version of his catalogue ‘Plantes pour jardin sec’.  They are Chaenomeles speciosa ‘Umblicata’ with pink flowers in February and March and C. speciosa ‘Nivalis’, a white form.
